BabyQuip- the Baby Gear Rental Company is the Mom Hack to End All Mom Hacks. Kristi DeRubertis, May 29, 2024May 29, 2024 I lost count on the amount of family vacations where I had sworn off packing “all this baby stuff!” Each time we’d pack, I’d tell myself that I wouldn’t over do it this time. Turns out, being in the throes of parenthood isn’t the time to be a minimalist. Go figure. Despite my best efforts, all the gear I was bringing was essential to my little one. I’d often think to myself, there has to be a better way to do this. Enter BabyQuip. Think of BabyQuip as the Airbnb of baby gear, minus the sometimes-pesky homeowner who shows up to make sure you’re following the rules of the house. BabyQuip allows families to rent out the strollers, cribs, SNOOs, and other baby items. On paper it sounds great. Not having to buy travel versions of your baby items, lugging them all the way from home, or paying checked luggage fees sounds ideal, doesn’t it? But surely there has to be some bumps in the road, right? I consider myself a half full type of person, but even the idea of BabyQuip was making me a skeptic. So I decided to utilize BabyQuip’s services on our Spring break vacation and this was my experience. Photo: BabyQuip Before we get ahead of ourselves, here’s how BabyQuip works. Essentially, you are renting baby gear from individuals in many locations around the US. You begin by inputting the address where you’ll be staying, the rental dates, and a drop off/pick up time frame. A list populates of available providers in the area along with their respective delivery fees. In my case, I rented a Baby Jogger City Mini from Analis Gorritz-Colon. Analis had excellent reviews and she had a ton of gear available. I only need a stroller for this vacation, but I will certainly keep her in mind next time when I need more items. Shortly after I booked my stroller with Analis, I received a text confirming my drop off location and time. By the way, I loved that. I loved that their was instant communication and that lasted throughout the entire week vacation. If I had a question, I could reach out. She also reached out on a separate occasion to confirm the pick up location and time. Although we had our stroller delivered to our Universal Orlando hotel, it was being picked up at Disney’s Coronado Springs as we were spending the second half of our week at Disney. The stroller met all expectations and was perfect for my 2 year old son. Above all, it was clean! I’ll just go ahead and say it, I’m a mom who gets the “ick” with certain things, but this didn’t give me the ick. Which was something I was worried about- what kind of condition would the stroller be in? I literally had no reason to worry as the stroller was pristine. Which makes sense, considering BabyQuip has strict policies in place to ensure that every piece of equipment your baby uses is deep cleaned and sanitized between rentals. As I did my google deep dive into BabyQuip before deciding to use them, I learned that providers are thoroughly trained to use a 5-step cleaning process that includes vacuuming, cleaning with non-toxic products, sanitizing, drying, and safe reassembly. Photo: BabyQuip You’re probably asking yourself the question all my mom friends were asking me after I told them about BabyQuip- But is it worth it? The answer is absolutely, unequivocally yes! I love the convenience of BabyQuip. It’s easy to navigate the site, and you can choose to have the items delivered to your hotel, the airport, or vacation rental. And get this, some renters will allow you to pick up the items yourself to save on the delivery fee. Although I was traveling with my husband and had his help, I couldn’t help but think of the few times I had traveled solo with the kids. BabyQuip would have been a lifesaver, and it would have simplified things so much to be able to carry all of my luggage on my own by eliminating the need to tote along the stroller, pack and play, car seat, and whatever else I considered essential. BabyQuip is less about saving money and more about saving sanity. Seriously. I’m a mom to 3 boys, I’ll take any chance I can get to hang onto even just a sliver of sanity at the end of the day. And if you need bulky items that you can’t travel with, like a SNOO, baby bath, portable crib pool gate, all-terrain stroller, BabyQuip is a great resource and basically a no brainer. In addition to that, you also have the option of renting baby gear and having it delivered right into your hands upon arrival at your destination, and then picked up when you’re done with it. This is crucial if you need a car seat at the airport, or if you want a larger item like a full-size crib that you likely can’t borrow or fit in your rental car. Overall, I love the idea of BabyQuip. Parents don’t have to waste money on cheap throwaway travel items and providers can hold onto their baby items and give them a much longer life. In fact, I absolutely love the idea that BabyQuip is a full-blown side hustle for so many mothers and caretakers. Any chance I get to support another mom’s side hustle, I’m there! And while there are other companies local to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando that rent strollers, there is no other site that has this many items and options for you to rent. Analis, the provider I worked with, also rents bouncers, sound machines, toys, and so many more items. Mom to mom, I strongly suggest renting with BabyQuip on your next vacation.
