To be fair… we’ve been celebrating since the very first night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary, so that’s nearly three months of nonstop spooky magic. 👻✨ The best part? After eight not so scary parties, we finally met Jack and Sally! 🖤 It was simply meant to be. 🥀

This family has loved every minute — but now it’s time to trade pumpkins for pixie dust and welcome all things merry at Walt Disney World. 🎄🏰

The Ultimate Guide to an Allergy Friendly Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Kristi DeRubertis, August 9, 2024August 9, 2024

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a special ticketed event that celebrates Halloween and everything spooky at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. It is the only time of year when guests are encouraged to come to the park dressed fully in costume. One of the best parts about this party is the complimentary candy handed out to Trick-Or-Treaters throughout the park! There is also an exciting menu of limited-time holiday snacks and desserts, as well as viewing dessert parties for the Not So Spooky Spectacular projection and firework show and Boo to You parade!

If you are a Disney fan, chances are you’ve heard of this event. If you’re a food allergy family, you may have skipped it in the past, or maybe you attended but didn’t participate in the special treats. Over the years, Disney has grown and improved their system to include guests with food allergies to join in on the fun and magic of this event. Here is how you can enjoy the event while managing food allergies and safety!

When you first enter the park, stop over at Tony’s Town Square Theater for a special teal treat bag. These are different than the character bags handed out to guests at the entry points of the party. They are special in that they signify to cast members at treat stations around the park that you are a guest with a food allergy and so they must follow a special protocol when handling your bag and treats. The teal color indicates allergy awareness.

You may have heard of the Teal Pumpkin Project- this is Disney’s version at MNSSHP! While other guests will collect candy at each treat station in their character bags, guests with food allergies will collect tokens at each treat stop in their teal bags which can then be cashed in for allergy-safe treats at the end of your party visit to the park. The teal tokens read “Please redeem for allergy-friendly treats.” This goes for both children AND adults participating in the trick-or-treating around the park during the MNSSHP. As with many things in Disney, you’re never too old to have fun!

What’s great about this system is there really is no limit to the treats. There are usually two known locations where you can cash in your tokens for allergy-safe treats (but be sure to check your party park map for “Allergy-friendly Centers”): Liberty Square Ticket Office on Main Street USA and Town Square Theater. We recommend stopping for some treats as soon as you pick up your bag so that the guest in your party with food allergies can enjoy some of these treats throughout the night just as one would carrying the character bag and picking up candy along the stops throughout the park. Then stop again once more before exiting the party to get your stash to represent the amount you would have collected during the party!

Did we mention the candy AND allergy-friendly treats are included in the ticket price? There is no extra charge for the teal bag, tokens or treats. Both allergy-safe treat stations carry a variety of items free of the top 8 allergens: tree nuts, peanuts, soy, egg, dairy, wheat/gluten, fish, and shellfish. Items include candies, cookies and gummies from brands like Werther’s Originals, Enjoy Life, Gogo Squeeze and YumEarth. You will also find an “Allergy-Friendly Assistance Menu” containing the ingredient list of all the allergy-safe offerings. The cast member at these locations will not prepare the bag for you which may SEEM like an inconvenience but is really a safety measure to ensure there is no cross contamination or mistaken hand-off of products containing potential allergens. Though this seems fool—proof for kids, adult supervision is always strongly advised.

If the guest with food allergies does not care to take the allergy-friendly candy and treats provided, a non-food item is also available, such as stickers and a simple craft-kit, to take with you as a souvenir from the event.

If you’re a guest with food allergies, Disney makes sure you can join in on the spooky magic and fun with this awesome accommodation!
