Making Waves: How Disney’s Oceaneer Club Elevates the Cruise Experience

Kristi DeRubertis, February 10, 2025February 10, 2025

Imagine a place where you can step into the world of your favorite Disney characters, play games, do crafts, and have fun all day long. That’s exactly what you’ll find at the Oceaneer Club and Lab on a Disney Cruise!

From themed play zones to character meet and greets, this onboard children’s club creates unforgettable memories for families embarking on a Disney cruise. Each Disney ship has its own unique design for the Oceaneer Club and Lab, but they all have the same idea in mind – to provide a place for kids to have a blast. The main hub connects to different themed rooms, and there’s a hallway that links the Club and Lab together so you can explore both areas safely.. Disney cruise kids clubs are free to use throughout the day and evening. Unlike other cruise lines, the late-night open hours do not incur a fee. The best part? Reservations are not required! You can drop off and pick up your children whenever it is convenient for you and your vacation plans.

In this article, we’ll be focusing on The Oceaneer Club On The Disney Wish. If you have kids in the age group of 3-10 years old, this is where they’ll probably want to spend most of their time! While the Oceaneer Club is a dream for any young passenger, I know that as a parent, your main concern is and always will be safety. Let me reassure you, as always with anything Disney, safety remains at the forefront of the Oceaneer Club.

When you arrive at the club, you’ll be at the front desk where friendly youth counselors are ready to help you. Each child will receive an Oceaneer Band, which is like a MagicBand. This band is used for checking in and out of the club. It contains important information about you, like your name, age, room number, dietary needs, and any medical concerns. There’s even a special chip inside the band that helps the counselors know where you are in the club at all times. Parents can choose who is allowed to pick up their child and set up a secret password for extra safety. As an added layer to security, you’ll also need to show your Key to the World card when you pick up your child.

The Oceaneer Club on The Wish is broken up into several areas, each with its own theme and activities. Guests will discover the immersive worlds of Super Heroes and princesses and take part in adventures with favorite Disney friends. Kids can enjoy dedicated clubs just for them—each presenting imaginative programs with the care and expertise of Disney-trained counselors.

Marvel Super Hero Academy
Young “recruits” can train to be the next generation of Super Heroes at this high-tech Avengers command post.

Kids will choose a Super Hero suit from a selection of power sets based on Marvel heroes like Iron Man and Captain Marvel. Then, watch nanotech at work as your design is brought to life on a mannequin in real-time. They’ll have the chance to put their new suits and skills to the test in a virtual battle with “Avengers: Mission Training,” a gesture-based technology game.

Star Wars: Cargo Bay
Learn what it takes to be an intergalactic creature handler as you manage a mischievous menagerie of exotic beings from across the galaxy, including a porg, Loth-cat, worrt and more.

Throughout the cruise, you’ll track and study creatures on a series of special assignments using augmented reality-enabled data pads. But there’s more to this job than meets the Dianoga eye. You’ll be tasked with an important mission to deliver a pair of secret stowaways—Rey and Chewbacca—back to the Resistance!

Fairytale Hall
Join some of your favorite Disney Princesses and Frozen Queens in 3 fantastical activity rooms fit for royalty. Let your creativity shine at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, bring stories to life at Belle’s Library and test newfound icy powers at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus.

Inspired by her love of expression, Rapunzel’s Art Studio is a creative escape where kids will have the “best day ever” making their own arts and crafts projects, like floating lanterns and paintings.

Belle’s Library is a cozy corner for reading and acting out stories with the help of an enchanted painting that magically transforms the tales.

Anna and Elsa are never far from snow, even in their summer cabin. Here, kids will unlock icy

powers during “Frozen Fun,” a series of gesture-based games hosted by Olaf, which includes snowball fights with friendly trolls and a hunt for mischievous Snowgies—the tiny, playful snowmen created by Elsa in the animated short Frozen Fever.

Walt Disney Imagineering Lab
Discover the secrets of world-renowned Disney Imagineers—the creative minds behind Disney theme parks, Resorts and cruise ships—with hands-on activities and inventive experiments.

At the Ride Studio, kids can design their own roller coaster attraction, drawing inspiration from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain or Matterhorn Bobsleds—and then climb into a capsule where they will virtually ride their imaginative masterpiece.

Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck
Specially designed for the youngest sailors at Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck is a nautical playground inspired by the colors, icons and magic of Disney Cruise Line.

Little cadets can enjoy maritime-themed physical activities and sensory-style games—as well as play time with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse themselves. At select times throughout the voyage, the space will be open to little ones’ families for group play, and toddlers from “it’s a small world” nursery will also get dedicated access to the club to explore, learn and play with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

Children with special needs are allowed at the youth activities and kids clubs. However, they must be toilet trained and able to participate in the activities and interact with other kids in the clubs without special assistance.

If you’re still undecided whether or not the Oceaneer Club is for you or your child, I strongly suggest checking out the space during its open house. Open house is an opportunity for Guests of all ages to participate in a variety of exciting activities hosted at Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab throughout the cruise. During these Open Houses, both facilities will still be available for those looking to check their children into care.

In the Oceaneer Club, Children can let their imaginations soar as they interact with beloved Disney characters in multi-themed magical lands all within one designated space. While other cruise lines offer something similar for young passengers, Disney is the only one that will actually put your child right in the middle of their favorite story or movie. They’ll get to be a princess, a superhero, an Imagineer, or even all of the above! It’s an experience they will never forget, and that’s what Disney Cruise Line is all about.
