The Ultimate Guide for Using Instacart to Deliver Groceries to Your Disney Resort Hotel

Kristi DeRubertis, September 6, 2024September 6, 2024

When staying at a Disney Resort hotel, convenience is key to making your vacation truly magical. One way to streamline your stay is by utilizing Instacart for grocery delivery services right to your Disney accommodation. This article will guide you through the step-by-step process of using Instacart at Disney Resort hotels, from setting up your account to receiving and confirming your delivery. Discover how you can save time and enjoy the convenience of having groceries delivered to your doorstep while staying in the enchanting world of Disney.

Creating an Instacart Account

Before you can say “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” to your groceries, you’ll need to set up your Instacart account. It’s easier than navigating the Magic Kingdom – I promise!

Simply download the Instacart app or visit their website to create your account. Fill in your details faster than you can say “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!”

Adding Your Disney Resort Hotel Address

Add your Disney Resort Hotel address to ensure your groceries find their way to you faster than Tinker Bell can fly.

Creating Your Grocery List

Get ready to channel your inner fairy godmother and create a magical grocery list on Instacart. I’m really not a list person, but when it comes to ordering for delivery to our hotel, it’s a must. It keeps me better organized and I’m able to make sure I get everything I need.

Browsing and Selecting Items on Instacart

Browse through Instacart’s virtual aisles and select your favorite goodies. While most shops are available on Instacart, I’m a sucker for Publix. We used to live in Florida, and I have such a soft spot for Publix, so I’m always quick to search on their site within Instacart. Sidebar- if you’re a PubSub lover (like I am), you can even get PubSubs delivered to your resort!

Selecting Delivery Options and Timing

Time to sprinkle some scheduling magic to ensure your groceries arrive at your Disney Resort Hotel with precision timing! You’ll be able to select the perfect delivery date and time to coincide with your Disney adventures. Because who wants to worry about bread when you’re meeting Mickey?

Receiving and Confirming Your Instacart Delivery

Tracking Your Delivery

Once you’ve placed your Instacart order, you can track the delivery in real-time through the Instacart app. Keep an eye out for updates on the status of your order and the estimated time of arrival to your Disney Resort hotel.

It may be possible to have your grocery delivery left at the “Bell Services” desk at your hotel. Note that this is different from the check-in desk – just ask a cast member if you don’t know where it is located at your resort. You can then retrieve it later or have it brought up to your room (both of which involve tipping the person handling your bags of groceries).

Alternatively, you can meet the delivery person at the entrance to your resort and they can hand off the groceries directly to you.

Checking and Confirming Your Order

After receiving your Instacart delivery, it’s essential to check that all your items are present and in good condition. Confirm the order matches what you selected and report any discrepancies to Instacart customer service for quick resolution.

Instacart Guidelines for Delivery to Disney Hotels

There are definitely some rules you will want to know before using a grocery delivery service at Disney World.

First, if there is alcohol in your order you will likely have to meet the delivery person with your ID in hand so they can verify your age. I recommend doing this outside the resort’s entrance to make it as easy as possible on the driver.

Next, you can only have your groceries delivered when you aren’t present IF you are staying at a Disney-owned resort (it will have the word “Disney’s in front of the name). Disney resorts will allow delivery people to leave your order at the Bell Desk as long as it doesn’t include alcohol. They will keep cold items in the refrigerator or freezer if necessary.

If you want to call the Bell Desk and have your grocery order delivered to your room, Disney policy says they will charge a $6 delivery fee to your hotel folio. I have never seen this charge at checkout but know that it is a possibility.

Last, if you want the Bell Desk to hold your order for later or deliver to your room, a tip is suggested. I tip $5 unless it’s a large or heavy order in which case I will tip at least $10.

THEME PARK MOM PRO TIPS:

  • Disney allows you to bring in your own food and beverage into the parks. We always stock up on a case of water (Sometimes 2, depending on how long our stay is), and a hydration drink like Gatorade or Powerade (usually whichever one is on sale).
  • I always make sure to purchase fruit like bananas, apples, and oranges. They’re easy to throw in your bag for the park and won’t get as damaged as berries or other fruits would. I also find that when Instacart shoppers are shopping for you, it’s hard to mess up those three produce items. I’ve never gotten expired or rotten apples, bananas or oranges. But I have blueberries and strawberries, it’s not fun and a total let down.
  • We are often on the run in the mornings, and it can be daunting to squeeze in a breakfast even if it’s quick service. Once we leave that room, we just want to get to the parks. So I make sure to order breakfast items such as protein bars, cereal (be sure to order milk as well), and yogurts. We eat our breakfast in the room before going out.
  • You’ll save in the long run. We aren’t Instacart people at home, but we are at Disney. It might seem like a lot at the time, but the amount you’ll spend at your hotel or in the parks will far exceed your delivery order. By the time you buy two bottles of water in the park, you could have just purchased a case of water and had it delivered to you.

By utilizing Instacart for grocery delivery at Disney Resort hotels, you can enhance your vacation experience with convenience and ease. Say goodbye to grocery shopping and hello to more time for magical moments at the parks and resorts. With the tips and guidelines provided in this article, you can make the most of your stay at a Disney Resort hotel by having your essential items delivered right to your doorstep. Embrace the convenience and enjoy a stress-free stay at the happiest place on earth!
